Charity of Choice

Our committee has chosen BEE-YOO-TY Honey as the charity of choice for this year's tournament, this event is taking place on July 13, 2024, at the Oshawa Airport Golf Course.

The proceeds from the tournament after expenses will directly benefit BEE-YOO-TY Honey which raises funds with sales of their product and donates all the proceeds to HOPE Air.

Who knew this was taking place right in the backyard of Oshawa Airport Golf Club, it's a wonderful opportunity to give back to our local community.

Their Story

In 2017, a few air traffic controllers at the Oshawa AirportControl Tower (YOO Tower behind the 4th hole tee) initiated an environmentally sustainable project by starting an apiary, raising bees, and donating proceeds to Hope Air. From their humble beginnings with just two hives, they expanded to six hives.

Unfortunately, due to a mishap where pesticides were inadvertently sprayed in an area where the bees got their pollen and such, they lost five ofthe six hives. This was indeed a very sad time.

They have now acquired another hive and are in the process of getting back to full capacity, with plans to start a third and fourth hive soon.

This is where we come in to help them get back to full operation! The money we raise for BEE-YOO-TY Honey will go directly into getting these hives back up and running!

This will in turn help Hope Air's mission to assist individuals in accessing medical care that they otherwise could not receive in their hometowns by booking flights for patients on commercial airlines or through the Volunteer Pilot Program.

Hope Air is a national charity in Canada that arranges free non-emergency medical flights for low-income Canadians who must travel far from home to access healthcare.

Since its inception in 1986, the charity has arranged over 140,000 flights1.

Their mission is to bridge the distance between home and hospital for Canadians in need, ensuring that no patient is left behind when it comes to accessing vital medical care.
